I used to color all the time. I had to stop when I had puppies running around getting into everything; but I still pull them out when I’m really stressed or bored lol. It’s very relaxing which helps keep the seizures away

Good afternoon Babygirl68 it’s been a while since I heard from ya last. Ya with me only working a few days a week now I’m trying a few new different things to occupy my mind. Starting to want new things to give me a variety of what I normally choose. Especially if I have a very low energy level day. Witch I have quite a bit of anymore.

That sounds like a wonderful idea! Finding ways to manage stress is really important when living with epilepsy, as stress can be a significant seizure trigger for many people.

Relaxation techniques like this fall into a broader category of mindfulness-based activities, which have growing evidence behind them for improving mood and overall well-being in people with epilepsy. Here are some other relaxation strategies that MyEpilepsyTeam members have found helpful alongside activities like coloring:

- Meditation or deep breathing — great for calming the nervous system
- Journaling — getting feelings out on paper can help process emotions
- Exercise — shown to help with both stress and seizure control for many
- Therapy animals — one MyEpilepsyTeam member shared that their cat helps reduce stress and anxiety
- Music — another member called it "a lifeline"

It's always a good idea to let your healthcare team know about any new relaxation strategies you're trying. Please do update — your experience could be really valuable to others! 🎨

Babygirl That was back in May. It actually went through the third time around. Having that now is only allowing me to work under 20 hrs a week now. I start a position with Home Depot back in May they’re working me from four to 5 hrs per shift. With the way my lower body is acting now it’s probably good I only have short shifts I seem to tire out quickly to what they have me doing .
