Members responded with deep empathy to the question of being blamed for causing their own seizures, with the overwhelming consensus being that no one can predict, control, or prevent a seizure from happening. Many community members described painful experiences of being blamed by family members, teachers, employers, and roommates who did not understand how seizures work, including being left alone or punished during or after an episode. A recurring theme was that people with epilepsy often have no awareness before, during, or after a seizure, and the community offered strong mutual support and encouragement to those who have faced unfair blame.

Hallo Vince.. William and Jen here .. we be sad to hear someone be blaming you for causing your seizure .. any one thinking that do not understand what a seizure be .. or why they be .. simple fact be .. if WE knew how to stop them ., or even if they be coming ., we would do all we could to avoid them.. being on the verge of dying be no fun .. and that be where we all be finding ourselves .. and totally unaware it happen until we wake up on the floor .. in hospital .. or in ambulance .. or somebody be telling us we had one .. epilepsy be both cruel and impartial .. and NO ONE be making the choice to be having a seizure .. it be horrific to have a condfition .. that no one truly understand why you have it .. only guesses mostly .. and no one can really fix it ., although many do try hard .. anyone who say this to you .. that you be causing it or making it happen .. and blaming you
.. does not love you and is not your friend .. only Our Father know what seizure be ., and He will not push you away or blame you ., He will comfort you and help you to fight .. and there be those on here who will understand and be your friend and fight beside you .. for each of you who understand .. and care.. and know what pain and mental suffering fighting this be .. my Jen and me be grateful .. we all be here for each other Vince .. on here you never be alone .. hugs and prayers from William and Jen πŸ’œπŸ’™πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ•ŠπŸ•Š

Refractory be no fun .. although I be getting some help from Lamotrogine.. helps me feel a bit calmer .. so holds stress down and help to prevent seizure I be thinking .. you take care mo bro .. God Bless you too William. I’m sure Jen helps you battle all of the occasions when you have a seizure. I’ve always told people that if they think I’m faking a seizure to pinch me their hardest. When I don’t react to it I’m obviously having a seizure. I’ve always had refractory epilepsy too. I send you both love ❀️, hugs πŸ€— and prayers πŸ™
