Even though I ride my bike most times, sometimes I don't feel good, the weather is bad or something. Mostly it's my husband who drives me and I can hear his resistance or annoyance in his voice even if he says yes to giving me rides. Then I get so annoyed myself and emotional and guilty and angry... all the things 🙃. It's a vicous cycle. I just don't want to feel like this. 😕 know my significant other means well, but just doesn't want to drive

Members connected over the question of feeling guilty and dependent when asking for rides due to epilepsy, with many sharing that shifting their mindset helped ease the burden of asking for help. Several members offered practical alternatives like free door-to-door disability transportation programs, public transit, delivery services, and leaning on trusted friends or family while offering gas money or small gestures of thanks. A recurring theme was that having epilepsy is not a choice, asking for help is an act of responsibility not weakness, and that the community encouraged one another to let go of shame.

I don't go out much mainly because there is no where to go in my city/state. Husband takes me to breakfast on his day's off or if I have a doctor's appointment. i have one other person who will take me to a doctor's appointment when mly husband has to work on that day. I give that person money or take them to lunch.
I order everything i need online and have it delivered to my home even food sometimes, like my dinner will be delivered to me tonight.

I don't feel guily or embrassment. I did not drive before I got seizures. People know I never drove or definitely cannot drive now. I get everything I can delivered to my home and only ask for rides to go to doctor appointments.

Adjusted myself to public transportation availability & usually work my plans around them so that loved ones/ friends DON'T make me feel difficult/ harassing for them 🙏🏿🤎
