I would become a law breaker as I can’t stand it just on my phone! Knowing that someone else has access to every aspect of my life is bad enough- from everything being said, texted, emailed etc is an invasion of privacy and I don’t believe in it. I saw on the news the other day where the cops had arrested someone and their evidence all came from ai assisted things in his home. Yes, he had committed the crime, but knowing that their entire evidence came from the ai in his home was disgraceful and disturbing. If they can arrest u for saying something in ur own home to nobody ( he was just speaking out loud to himself) is the epitome of invasion of privacy and I’m totally against it
Here is my thought process.. Think movies.. are they becoming more of a reality?? Such as…. Terminator & I Robot. There has been some testing by some of the creators on this very thing. They have asked certain questions and have come up with some not so happy responses from AI.
So yeah…. My answer is keep an eye out for changes, be aware of the changes, and if at all possible (should this become an irrefutable law) keep a skeptical mind. And do a lot of praying for discernment.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member,
You said it better than me, thank you. This is a more concern that I have. It’s already been proven that our phones and TV’s have been compromised, even when off, to spontaneously turn on. There isn’t anything spontaneous about it. Being aware of the current technology and having a clear understanding of what is happening is fine, but there are other issues that most don’t realize.
If I need it for what I do then I'd use it. I'm not referring to the nifty user friendly apps people use, and think of as AI available to the masses, but the more sophisticated applications of AI
I have a few friends that use AI to control their houses. plus tools necessary for handicapped.
My issue is the 2nd part of Dave's question: that if a law was enacted that would FORCE you to have AI functionality in your home's, that is violatkng our freedoms granted to us as true US CITIZENs. If that is allowed and becomes a norm such as it is in NYC, that is COMMUNISM !!! and can't be tolerated !!!!
AI is a part of modern reality - however it can never totally "outsmart" people so don't get worried about it. I've just smashed up and tossed a $1000 mobile phone in the rubbish bin, it has been replaced by a $100 mobile phone that has newer, more secure technologies. All I need is a basic, secure mobile phone that can makes call, receives texts - not some fancy, stupid phone that constantly offers me useless unwelcome games! I am totally sick of these extras being offered to me! The highly qualified electronic technician who set my new phone up is 79 years old!
AI is meant to make lives easier for ALL people, not just a select few - AI needs to be secure, purpose built and easy to use.
Too many businesses don't know how to use AI properly. Their websites are left outdated - wrong prices on sales promotions etc.
If I walk into a shop and sales assistance don't acknowledge me because they are distracted by earbuds, I walk out and go elsewhere. Businesses are losing $000's in sales.
