Today I looked into bright flashing lights - they were shined in my face.
Shortly after I got nauseous but I start to not feel normal. I am very very sensitive to lights. Is anyone else familiar with the weird feeling you get after you see the lights? When people say "well what do you feel like" it irritates me because I cannot explain it. All I can say is not normal...I am having trouble labeling it. Can someone help guide me...

You may have a form of photos sensitivity ( sensitive to sunlight, and any other type of light )
What you're describing sounds like it could be an aura — a warning sign that happens before or during a seizure. It's incredibly common to struggle to put it into words, and you're definitely not alone in that frustration!
An aura can feel like a mix of strange sensations that are hard to label. Here are some ways others Show Full Answer
I just found out that I have that also, and you're right, it's tricky to explain. One time someone accidentally shined their phone flashlight in my eyes, and I felt so strange afterward. And then I actually ended up getting super weak in my knees and legs to the point that I couldn't walk for several hours. People don't understand it, and honestly I don't think we can really make them understand if they don't experience it themselves. It can be awkward to explain why I have to suddenly switch seats, or have certain lights on and not others in someone else's space, or when I don't show up to certain events or activities.
In terms of labeling it or explaining it, it could be a seizure episode or it could be migraine related, but even using those labels for it probably won't be helpful in making others understand unfortunately. It's just a reality.
I did find out through several recent tests that my photosensitivity symptoms are actually related to a rare type of migraine, and my epileptologist gave me some meds to treat those symptoms. I haven't tried them yet, but I hope they help. I also wear prescription theraspecs glasses. They have a red tint which helps a lot with light sensitivity. I hope it helps to know you're not alone. Hang in there.
