Neurologist. It read "You have a 2hr EEG to read for this patient. It was VERY ABNORMAL and you may wish to read it ASAP." My last EEG was a 3 day ambulatory EEG and it was abnormal as well. Because of the brainwave abnormality he wanted to be proactive and prescribe Zonisamide to see if that would settle things down. It apparently hasn't.
I've been on Keppra for around 30 years and seizure free for about 25 years, so seizures are not an immediate problem. The doctor is just being proactive to… read more
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member, I had EEG mapping done as well. After my EEG , mapping I went straight into my Left Temporal Lobe Brain surgery
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member When I had the Seer eeg they did a thing called eeg mapping. Where they pick up seizure activity basically in real time from where it starts then on the eeg see how it travels in the brain.
David: You can rest assured, brain wave activity is the key to everything. Our abnormal EEG's represent why we have seizures, and how bad they are. If our EEG's were normal we would have much less seizures, or none at all. Now consider this: You -- you, yourself, no medicine required -- can control your brain activity. I tell you this as both a fellow epileptic and also as a neuroscientist. You might not be able to control it ENOUGH to stop all seizure activity, but you could definitely change things. Consider it! There are many ways to do that without taking more pills.
It has been been 12 years since my last EEG . My DR at Kiaser has no reason to have one since my seizures are are under control with ZonigramQID, Kepra 1.500 mg. for the day. Depakote 750 am and500 pm. I am a better person for lowering my Kepra, ASk my wife ! Ericthom3
I haven’t had an EEG in quite some time so I really can’t say much but it should be able to give the doctors a little more information about the next steps if the new medication is working better that’s a good sign
