Epilepsy? I went to see the movie "Michael", a biopic about the life of .Michael Jackson from the start of the Jackson 5 to his first solo international tour stop. Before the movie began there was a warning to persons with Epilepsy about the flashing lights in the movie. I thought that was thoughtful and courteous to think about us with seizure disorders. I don't have that trigger, but I thought it was courteous.

Members responded warmly to a post about photosensitivity warnings before the Michael Jackson biopic, with many sharing that they have seen similar warnings on streaming services and video games for years but rarely in theaters. Several members described personal experiences where flashing lights in movies or clubs triggered real seizures, while others shared practical strategies like wearing sunglasses or watching movies at home with controlled lighting. A recurring theme was gratitude that these warnings are becoming more common, with many members feeling seen and cared for by the small but meaningful gesture.

I’ve been to many movies. But I don’t remember any movies warning how about seizures? Video games, and video game consoles have a warning on everything.

Yes . My suggestion is to wear sunglasses if you desperately want to see the movie but if you don’t care then don’t go . Better to stay true and away from triggers so you have less seizures

Decades ago. I think the last time I saw a movie at the theater was The Karate Kid. I was still young then.

I've seen warnings about it more and more these days but I haven't seen it come up in a cinema. A lot of the streaming services have added in.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I'm not to sure when they started doing it with video games in the US has but in Aus they had a campaign about it in the late 2000's early 2010's then it was standard around 2013. Its only really been in movies in Aus the last few years as far as I know. I would say streaming services are a big part of that.
