Members shared their varied experiences with pollen allergies and seizures, with some finding that severe allergy symptoms can trigger seizures while others experience no connection between the two. Several members offered practical strategies for managing seasonal allergies, including daily Flonase nasal spray, oral antihistamines like Allegra, keeping windows closed, and using fans to blow pollen outward, though some noted hesitation about adding more medications to already heavy epilepsy drug regimens. A recurring theme was that everyone's body reacts differently to both allergens and treatments, with one member sharing the unexpected benefit of Tegretol completely eliminating their hay fever after starting epilepsy treatment.

Pollen is already bad here in SC so I’ve been taking the Flonase spray to help deal with it every day now because it got to a point everyday my eyes were always burning and was sneezing all day. I didn’t realize till recently pollen got bad recently by looking at my sisters car it’s covered in pollen and so it’s been bothering me but best thing to recommend is the Flonase it helped at least lower the amount of issues I did have because it used to get super bad it’s not as bad right now with sneezing or eyes burning all day.

I know it’s not something most ppl think works, but when it’s like that, I open a window and set a fan facing outside and turn it on. Not only does it blow the pollen out but it also blows the warm air out. It always helps me, from snow mold to dust and pollen.

I live in San Diego and we’re supposed to be having the worst pollen allergy season than other cities and all are extended longer than normal, which leaves me sneezing a lot. I use an OTC corticosteroid nasal spray and it works very well!

I don’t care about the pollen . I already have allergies to inside dust, and pet dandruff. I may as well be allergic to that .

But I don’t think I don’t think that I’m allergic to pollen. I’m better off going outside to clear my nose and allergies anytime of the year..

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I understand the so many mg taking and that getting headaches a lot I honestly keep medications that I know that will work for me because it’s the only meds that work for me and I know certain things that also help give me headaches like if I’m in my bedroom with the light on for awhile that light beaming in my head for some reason gives me a headache so usually I have ibuprofen which to me for my body it does better then Tylenol but everybody’s body is different so it all depends on how ur body will react I’m taking the Flonase only because I don’t want the issues throughout the day makes my day basically bad if I don’t.
