It's great to hear your MRI experience went smoothly! The fact that the medical team adjusted your DBS settings before the scan and then brought them back up afterward shows they followed proper safety protocols.

DBS devices can be MRI-compatible, but it requires careful coordination. The medical team needs to adjust the stimulation settings to ensure safety during the scan, which is exactly what happened in your case.

Many people with DBS for epilepsy can safely undergo MRI scans when proper precautions are taken. The key is working with experienced medical professionals who understand how to manage DBS devices during imaging procedures.

Your positive experience is encouraging for others who may need MRIs while having DBS! It's always important to inform all medical providers about your DBS device before any imaging procedures.

I have a vagus nerve stimulator. If I have an MRI it needs to be turned off. I know exactly how you feel

The care team knows if there is a need of having an MRI in my case, the VNS and MRI need to be turned off. I will have a specific covering over my chest to avoid any specific damage taking place to me or to the equipment when the procedure begins. When the procedure ends then dressed in street clothes and in another room, I meet with my MedTronic representative to have my devices turned back on.
