Concentrate on something that may take your mind off of anxiety or stress.
Do you like to?…….
Read
Play solitaire
Listen to music
Play a group game with family or friends
Watch tv. Probably something positive or funny

Anything that you can take your mind off of the stress and anxiety

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , You could look into what your “Epilepsy Foundation Indiana” offers. The support group that I read , they have in person & I don’t know how close you live to their location or if you would even have a way to go. But you can always contact them & ask if they offer any kind of support groups & events online if you prefer that way. But in general, most Epilepsy Foundations offer support groups, events, programs & different kinds of resources. Here is the link about your local “Epilepsy Foundation Indiana”: https://www.epilepsy.com/local/indiana . They have a Facebook page under their name as well. Prayers things calm down for you & prayers your seizures calm down for you. Take care. Your friend in Texas, Becky

How can you manage anxiety and stress to help reduce seizure risk?

Stress is a common seizure trigger for many people with epilepsy, so finding effective ways to manage it is an important part of your care. While you can't always control what causes stress, you can work on reducing its impact on your mind and body.

Here are some helpful stress management techniques:

* Practice relaxation methods like meditation or deep breathing
* Get regular exercise
* Maintain a healthy sleep routine
* Consider psychotherapy or talk therapy
* Join support groups where you can connect with others who understand
* Try mindfulness training

If stress or anxiety feels overwhelming, talking with a psychologist, counselor, or therapist can help you develop personalized coping strategies. Your doctor can also suggest medication options if needed.

A MyEpilepsyTeam member shared: "My main stress is worrying about having a seizure." Breaking this cycle by managing stress proactively can help reduce both anxiety and seizure risk.

Remember that good sleep hygiene and taking your medication as prescribed also play crucial roles in managing stress-related seizures. Professional support can make a real difference in improving your overall well-being.
