During epileptic seizures, whether generalised or not, except in rare cases, I always remain conscious. To explain myself better, I understand what is happening around me. Does anyone else share my fate?

Most of the time that was how I was. I would start feeling scared and that was it. Eventually I felt fine.

Especially for anyone that new to epilepsy you csn sometimes have terrible pain in your stomach and that can be a seizure because I used to have that and my gp then said the stomach has got the same covering as the brain but usually seizures happen most of the time in brain . But this pain in stomach are seizures when I was younger

I have Focal Impairment Awareness Seizures. ( AKA Complex Partial Seizures ) . Mainly means that’s I am not aware when my seizures come.

I had this happen to me when I had a TC seizure just over 3 years ago. Technically when this happens you're not actually conscious during the seizure unless its a awareness seizure. You would remain conscious up to the point the seizure happens then a short while after you would come to. This is what happened to me.
When I had my last TC seizure Before I was fine, then I blanked out and after I was fine. The hard part was working out exactly how long the seizure went for and how long the unconscious state was.

Do you remain aware during your seizures?

Yes, you're definitely not alone in this experience. Many people with epilepsy remain conscious and aware during their seizures.

Focal aware seizures are specifically characterized by full consciousness throughout the episode. People experiencing these seizures are awake and alert while it's happening, and they remember everything afterward. These seizures typically last two minutes or less.

During focal aware seizures, you might:
* Freeze up and be unable to respond (called behavioral arrest)
* Experience sensory symptoms like dizziness or numbness
* See flashing lights or hallucinations
* Make repeated motions

Some people can even interact with others during these seizures, while others cannot respond but still understand what's happening around them.

About 14 percent of people with epilepsy experience focal aware seizures, so this is a recognized and shared experience within the epilepsy community.

A MyEpilepsyTeam member described having warning signs and being aware enough to sometimes lie down or tell someone what's happening, showing that maintaining consciousness during seizures is indeed something others experience too.
