Yes, you can. You can also have a Focal Impaired seizure that doesn't progress to a TC.

Hello Bigsexyfaj, my name is Tom and I have Focal seizures. I am also a Researcher in Epileptic Triggers that can cause seizures in different people with epilepsy.

The way you can stop a seizure before it happens, you must be able to learn your triggers so you can avoid the triggers that can cause the seizure.

Triggers act differently to everyone. The way to learn your triggers is to first know your weaknesses. It could be Stress, Heat, Anxiety or something completely different.

If you wish to have help in this area, send me a message.

Thank you from a fellow Warrior.

Can you have focal aware seizures without having tonic-clonic seizures?

Yes, absolutely! You can have focal aware seizures without ever experiencing tonic-clonic (grand mal) seizures. These are distinct seizure types, and many people only experience one type.

Focal aware seizures start in a specific area of your brain, and you remain fully conscious and aware during them. You might experience:

* Tingling sensations
* Isolated muscle jerking
* Visual disturbances
* Unusual feelings in your stomach
* Nausea

These seizures are typically short, lasting two minutes or less. You'll remember everything that happened during the seizure.

Some people do progress from focal aware seizures to tonic-clonic seizures, but this isn't inevitable. About 14 percent of people with epilepsy experience focal aware seizures, and many never develop other seizure types.

The symptoms you experience depend entirely on where in your brain the seizure starts and whether it spreads. If your seizures remain localized and don't spread to both sides of the brain, they'll stay focal rather than becoming generalized tonic-clonic seizures.

If you're experiencing focal aware seizures, it's important to work with your neurologist to get proper diagnosis and treatment, even if they haven't progressed to other types.
