Hey @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member When I first started Topamax over 10 years ago my weight dropped dramatically. People thought I was becoming anorexic but it was just because it reduced my hunger so much. I went from size 14 to size 8-10 (AUS/UK).
Now being menopausal and taking 2 other AEDs weight has come back hahaha but I still don't have hunger pangs- just get lightheaded and remind myself to eat something.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member It should definitely help with weight gain, it should help manage migraines. The only issues with the dosages the use for epilepsy v migraine is it can be a lot higher. So it may be a bit hit and miss for migraine headaches if you are on it for epilepsy. I'm on it for epilepsy and my dosage if 500mg which is way to high for migraines. however, I find it still helps if limit it if you do everything else correctly.
Can Topamax help with weight gain and migraines while taking Keppra?
Topamax (topiramate) is associated with weight loss rather than weight gain, which could potentially help if you're experiencing weight gain on Keppra. While Keppra is generally considered weight-neutral, some people do experience weight changes on it.
