lacosamide I looked up. Didn’t seem to have many bad effects but I don’t hear much about it.
There may be a gentler migraine therapy med than Topamax too - that’s pretty rough, especially if you’re older. You can speak with your PCP too.
I went off Topamax (it was for me an adjunct to Keppra) because it didn’t work for me but had no migraines and lost weight - like 10 years ago. Topamax is used as a migraine treatment drug at a lower dose (~50mg) and can cause weight loss by suppressing your appetite - it’s used in a weight loss drug too! I take Keppra and you do have to more actively watch your weight but the bigger issues is the mood swings, which is dubbed “Kepprage”. If Keppra is working, stay on it. It’s safer to actively watch your diet and attitude and have no seizures. Btw, Topamax is dubbed “Dopamax” (like Dopey) because you’ll legit sleep all day. 😴 All drugs have their ups and downs, stick to whatever helps your seizures.
Not too many effects.I actually take that along with my Kepprad as I've been doing for years but it's to no help.It be a little relaxing if anything but I wouldn't know the difference because I also take baclofen. Its just tiresome.
