Yes, I was diagnosed with epilepsy. In just about all the information I read, back in the day, it said not to take Wellbutrin if you have epilepsy or seizures. I was at such a low point in my life, so I decided to try it even though I knew it could cause a seizure. My OG/GYN prescribed it, and I am sure she did not know about the side effects.

Yes. I had taken Wellbutrin for about 6 months and had a seizure. I was taking Wellbutrin for depression. If you read the notes that come with your medication from the pharmacy, just about every one of them lists seizures as a possible side effect. Wellbutrin went further than that and said that if you have seizures, don't take this medication, or something very similar. I knew that when my doctor put me on the medication, but I took it anyway. And 6 months later, I had my seizure.

Did anyone start having seizures after taking Wellbutrin to quit smoking?

Yes, some medications can lower the seizure threshold and increase the risk of seizures. While the search results don't specifically mention Wellbutrin by name, certain prescription medications are known to be associated with seizures as a side effect.

Yes, some medications can lower the seizure threshold and increase the risk of seizures. While the search results don't specifically mention Wellbutrin by name, certain prescription medications are known to be associated with seizures as a side effect.

Some people experience seizures when starting new medications, especially at higher doses. If you believe Wellbutrin triggered your seizures 27 years ago, that's important information to share with your neurologist. They can help you understand medication-related seizure triggers and ensure you avoid similar risks in the future.

It's also worth noting that suddenly stopping certain medications can trigger seizures too, so any changes to your medication regimen should always be discussed with your healthcare team first.

Have you been managing your epilepsy well since that initial experience? Understanding your triggers can help you and your medical team create the best treatment plan for you.
