I have, and it's kinda a ok thing to mention to this person, but Im not sure if they are going to try out the recommendation I've brought up to them, it's nothing against the individual and anything like that, but they are somewhat reluctant to take into consideration what I'm trying to do for them and better the situation they are going through and have at hand, I mentioned about the site here and how we share information about the situation and condition (s) we have, and since I don't know it… read more

Members shared their experiences recommending this epilepsy support site to others, with many agreeing it is a natural and helpful thing to do for friends, family, or even strangers with similar conditions. Several members described suggesting the site to people with seizures, church members, medical professionals, and even those with unrelated conditions who might benefit from finding their own online community. A recurring theme was that while not everyone takes the recommendation, the act of sharing is worthwhile, and the site's value in connecting people and sharing knowledge speaks for itself.

I have made recommendations on seeing orher medical doctors that don't involve epilepsy and it was on this site. Whether they take my advice is up to them. Just trying to help.

Have you recommended MyEpilepsyTeam to someone else with epilepsy who seems reluctant to try it?

It's wonderful that you're trying to help someone else navigate their epilepsy journey by sharing what's helped you. Your instinct to connect them with support is generous and compassionate.

Here's the thing about recommendations: everyone processes their diagnosis and needs differently. Some people aren't ready to join a community right away, and that's completely okay. They might need more time to adjust to their diagnosis or feel overwhelmed by the idea of connecting with others about their condition.

What you can do:

- Let them know the door is open whenever they're ready, without pressure
- Share your own positive experiences casually, like "I learned something helpful today" rather than pushing them to join
- Respect that their timeline for seeking support might be different from yours
- Remember that your gesture already shows you care, even if they don't take the step immediately

Sometimes people come around when they're ready. You've planted the seed, and that might be exactly what they need to hear—even if they don't act on it right away.

Your heart is clearly in the right place, and that matters more than whether they join immediately.
