After it's ok with and your age you feel it's not necessary even though it's scheduled for that procedure again by the medical system and your doctor? I am wondering about the post here and curious about it, I have my current colonoscopy coming up and said ok with getting it done, but I was informed of it this year and did some research on it and it said it usually offered to people in the 30s with the procedure, but I'm 60 and was offered it now, I'll get it done, but I don't know if I will… read more

If it is recommended I do it. Because if I don’t do it I will regret it later on and what would have been a routine procedure has now turned into a nightmare.

Hello! Due to my epilepsy and other neurological issues, I have not had one. My Mom has had one every time they told her she had to have one most of her life. In her early 70’s, she was scheduled to have one but had some dehydration issues the day before due to the schedule they had her on. The bottom line was that she no longer needed to have it done when she turned 70 unless she had symptoms. Before having any procedure, I would definitely consult my team of doctors and do my own research. Each person is different with different issues, not every person can do the mainstream preventative medical procedures. 😃

Dave colonoscopies are unfortunately a necessity in life. I used to have to get it done yearly, then every 5 years. One of my gp’s said that it’s now done every decade, so I was very happy to get a reprieve from drinking that gunk that to me, tastes like salt water and makes me sick. But the last time I had to get an endoscopy done as well, so I suffered through it and they found 2 precancerous spots in my throat and had to remove 3 polyps in my colon just to make sure they didn’t turn cancerous. And now I’m back to having to get them done at least every 5 yrs. So I guess what I’m saying is when it comes down to having a colonoscopy- as gross as that solution is to drink, it’s worth it for ur overall health. They can find something that u weren’t aware of that just might save ur life or having to get a bag put in because u didn’t get tested and they have no choice but to remove all or part of ur colon. Early detection is the key when it comes to ur colon

Rhondaschnee I have a lot of cancer in my family as well and I've had cancer but wasn't told to test earlier. I guess it depends on circumstances. Both my parents had cancer. Lost my mother 13 yrs ago and my Dad is still living at 77 had skin cancer. I had kidney cancer 2 yrs ago. My grandmother had it in all her abdominal area. I should have had my screenings 10 yrs ago at least.
