I have had to accept the limitations I have that goes along with having Epilepsy. There were more and more limitations as I got older. We also have to accept the lack of information, ignorance as well as discrimination from people in general.

I feel we all learn. Something from each other. Or we may also realize we have similarities to another person

I don’t let it hold me back. I’m up for trying almost anything, but I’m also paying attention to my triggers and such. Sure I might have to put trying something new off by a few days after a seizure, but as soon as I’m good, I’ll try something new. I know my limitations and will push the boundaries a little bit, but like u Dave, i don’t consider myself a failure if I can’t do it. I’m not stupid about things I try- like using power tools or climbing ladders, but I’m not scared to give something a try. I still enjoy trying something new or different, I’m just smart about it. I had an unexpected seizure around noon after finding out that my ex boyfriend’s brother had died yesterday morning and he just found out about it late last night and called me this morning. We got along great, I had even brought him into my home when he was ready to get off the hard drugs, got him a job etc. Unfortunately his coworker gave him some, and I had to kick him out. I tried. But in the end, u have to be ready to help urself b4 others can help u. It’s the same with epilepsy. U have to learn what u can or can’t do, and stay within ur limits , but u’ll only learn what the limits are if u put urself out there and try something new.
I’ve got a new foster dog who was never taught anything and I do mean anything. From housetraining to even the word no, sit, etc and not to jump on ppl. She’s 8 months old and 80lbs. She’s only 5 lbs lighter than me so jumping up on me is not good for either of us. But she’s testing her boundaries and learning to live within them, which is exactly what we do with epilepsy. How else do we find out what we can or cannot do? I’ve had this condition long enough to know most of my limitations even though my seizures are progressing, and I can’t work or drive ( legally) anymore, but it just gives me more time to test my limits and see what happens. We fail, we fail - who cares. Even the most powerful and successful ppl in this world have failed at something sometimes and who cares. We get up and try something else. We might just find that something unique to us is the best thing ever! It’s when we don’t try that we are failing ourselves. Take up drawing or painting or writing. It doesn’t have to be something that makes us uncomfortable or difficult or harmful for us, just something that makes us happy and possibly turn into something we can share with others. Who knows- u might be the next Picasso or Emily Dickens 🤷🏽‍♀️, but we’ll never know unless we try Just keep positive and keep trying something different. Anything that brings u joy

Don’t u believe that ur meant to be here for some reason or another Sean? But it sounds like ur suffering from depression amongst other things. I know u have ur reasons for feeling like u do, and I can imagine ur daily physical pain and mental pain. I don’t think that either is a reason to feel like u shouldn’t be here . There’s a purpose ur here, u just have to figure out what it is. Have u ever thought about talking with others that have the same medical conditions as u do? Kind of letting them know that they’re not alone and that u too feel the way u do, but telling them not to give up? Like a councillor for those like u? It might not only give them hope but u as well? Just a thought. But if I’m totally honest with u, it worries me that ur not seeking help and that u’ve been feeling like u do for so long. Depression needs to be addressed or it can snowball and u don’t want that to get worse for urself. U don’t even have to go anywhere or video chat; u can just call and talk about how ur feeling. Nobody needs to be seen or worry about being recognized, but it might help. I do sincerely care about u and the way ur feeling. It’s not healthy for ur mind, body or soul.
