It's hard to believe my not being sorry I have it. I wouldn't have experienced how my life has been. I've learned a lot through the years since I've got it. Some hasn't been the greatest and some have. 1 thing especially since I did continue to live is appreciating life, probably would've happened as I got older if didn't have it. Since did though I started enjoying life at a younger age, even when seizures were more severe.

Appreciate the post but maybe growth isn't such a good choice of words here. I've accepted my condition and have learned to live with it. I do prioritize more and do keep lists more because I forget things. I might be a little better organized because I have to be to function. I would have to think pretty hard to see any ways I have "benefited" from my condition. I do try to see other people's perspectives more often but I attribute this to getting older and wiser. I do appreciate this myepilepsyteam.com site because it's made me think more and given me some answers that I don't get from my neurologist. It also raises issues I've never thought about. I also like being part of a team, always have and I do appreciate Dave because he makes me think through his thoughtful questions, plus I like everyone's responses. But as for benefiting from epilepsy in any way, don't think so. At least not now anyway.

Question: How has living with epilepsy helped you learn more about yourself?

Many people with epilepsy discover unexpected personal growth through their journey. While no one would choose to have seizures, the experience often leads to valuable self-discovery and connection with others who understand the challenges. Members of MyEpilepsyTeam have shared similar perspectives about personal growth:

• Learning to prioritize self-care and rest when needed
• Becoming more accepting of their condition
• Finding strength in being open about their experiences
• Developing patience with themselves
• Building meaningful connections with others who understand

This kind of perspective - finding meaning while still hoping for better treatments - shows remarkable resilience and wisdom.
