When the doctor put me on Lamotrigine he advised me to call him right away and stop the medication. I tried calling him on Friday but wasn't in the office. The nurse said she would try to get a hold of him. I didn't hear back. I called the on call doctor and she advised me to get off the medication immediately. She advised to take Benadryl to help relieve the side effects and to get to an ER if it gets worse. I asked about using Calimine lotion to help with the itching. She said it would… read more

I was on Lamotrigine for a while but it didn't do much for me. I did not have any itches or welts because of it, but I didn't have fewer seizures either.

I've been on Lamotrigine for years and haven't had any adverse reaction due to it. Dave, are you on any other meds that could have an interaction. Drugs.com has a writeup on it. https://www.drugs.com/sfx/lamotrigine-side-effe...

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I haven't had any issues with other medications I'm taking. I asked the neurologist if there was any bad interactions with other medications, he said there wasn't. So I'm sure it was from the Lamotrigine.

Thankfully the welts have gone down and the itching has stopped. I'm just disappointed that this happened because it helped calm me from the Keppra. Hopefully we'll find something else to go with the Keppra to control the abnormalities he's seeing on the EEG.

I haven't had any seizures for a long time because of the Keppra, but sometimes I have bouts of confusion. The neurologist is trying to be proactive to prevent any type of seizures in the future.
