I have never been able to legally
drive , unless you count bumper cars bumper boats , Go-carts and riding Lawnmower .

I have always had to use city transportation , when I lived in the cities . Now I live in a rural area and if I need to go anywhere I need my family to drive me

I’ve learned coping since my teens. Maybe not cope , but understood

I wasn't easy counting on others to drive me places before I got my license!

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member, i am not sure if you have transportation systems in your area. But i do know that where my dad was born and where my aunt lives there is no public transportation in that part of Arkansas. I was raised in San Francisco, CA. So, if there wasn't a bus to take you where you want to go, you walk from the nearest stop to your destination. As far as how i handled being told i can't drive for a year, took it in stride and i looked at the next best way to get there-the bus, the train. Talk to my neurologist about how can i work better at controlling my seizures so i can drive. Which first started with changing diet. I thought your state was only 6 months to be seizure free. But it sounds like out here in California. Where you have to have bloodwork done every 3 months to check your medication levels MRIs for a year and have a written authorization from your neurologist that you are safe to drive. For me, after all that wait and diet change, i got used to the exercise. Got my license back but never drove again because i got used to walking. You can find out if there is a ParaTransit service available in your city and if they can take you where you need to go.

Good post and? I have given up my license and it's not much of a concern for me, I gave up at my ssdi case and been ok with out It, I get around on foot and use the cities transportation, bus and such etc, I once in a while will ask for a ride if needed and sometimes get, and if not I plan ahead and try to anyway, but I manage with getting to where I have to go or reschedule it if I don't have a way of making it there, but usually do, my opinion
