Los Angeles, CA

Hey freinds. I'm currently on Keppra/Levetiracetam to help offset my seizures, however, they've been occuring more often lately. I am familiar with certain things that contribute to seizures (i.e. stress, anxiety, lack of sleep, alcohol) but I was hoping to find out what (if any) other remidies/treatments exist to help limit/control my seizures. Thanks!

Increasing doses of the medicines can help. They did that for me. Eventually, I was on 6 medicines, and my seizures were still not controlled. I finally had brain surgery in 2014, and I have been seizure-free ever since. Don't give up, you can do this.

Ben im also on the generic med of Keppra. I’ve been on the 750 mg levetiracetam probably around 16 yrs now. Between that one and the other I’m on it’s over 3550 mg per day.

You may want to talk to a neurologist about this. They may have to increase the dosage on the Keppra/Levetiracetam or start another medication with it.

I'm on Keppra/Levetiracetam and I'm on the maximum dosage. The neurologist just started me on Lamotrigine to help with the Keppra and and to calm me down from the side effects of Keppra. He wanted to add Lamotrigine because the ambulatory EEG showed some abnormalities, but I'm not having any seizures. He wants to keep it that way.

Don’t know how long you’ve been on AEDs of any type.

But if you have been on many forms of AED meds, and they haven’t helped control your seizures yet, then you may have Refractory Epilesy ( resistant to AED drugs )

If that’s the fact then you may
Want to bring alternative treatment?, like……
1. VNS
2.DBS
3. .RNS

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , I’ve never used it but the Keto Diet has been mentioned numerous times on here. You could try looking up information about it at www.google.com & typing in something like “how the keto diet helps with seizures” & see what information you can get. You might also talk with your doctor before starting any kind of home remedies for treatment. You could also go to Google & type in something like “home remedy treatments for seizures” & see what information you can find. I’ve never used any actual home remedies. Welcome to the site! Good luck & I hope you can find the information you’re looking for. Your friend in Texas, Becky
