Experiencing not one thing was ordered. He claims quote unquote it’s from getting older. Which I know is a bunch of BS .

Like so many parts of living as an epileptic, side effects from the meds can be so similar or so, so different. Even when 2 different patients are taking the exact same meds. Yet so many doctors simply do not want to take the time to help you find what would be most beneficial for you personally.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I kind of get what you're saying the only issue is to do this you would need to have everything down pat meaning you pretty much need to know the ins and outs of your case specifically, what to look out when something goes wrong and when a seizure happens. Thats something that takes years and years of work. I'm currently doing it and I'm not fully there and this has taken me 3 years.

JolF, My plan as of right now is to contact my gp once I get a letter in the mail from dmv telling me I’m good for now with my medical report. Once I get that I’ll be contacting my general practitioner office and asking them to put the referral in with sentara for the neurologist that my school friend recommended to me last year. I’m tired of this nonsense I keep going through with my current neurologist. Especially if I’m needing what I think I need right now and not getting it do to his stupidity.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member Rose, It feels like it's become a factory line. I need them to get my meds & when I go nuts, to order the tests. If I could get around them I would do it. If I disagree with them, I'll challenge them to prove me wrong, or just see my point of view. Heaven forbid, if they learn something new.

I apologize for the novel that I have written here.
Quinn,
I mentioned this before. Find a new neurologist. Call your insurance find out who’s “in network” and get a different doctor. This one obviously has a terrible bedside manner, doesn’t listen to you, and seems to have No Knowledge of your conditions. I go to the University of Pennsylvania. It’s a teaching hospital but I see a well educated neurologist who also is an epilepsy specialist. It should help to see a neurologist, who is an epilepsy specialist. You don’t need to, but your current doctor knows nothing about what you you are going through, or has even sent you to another Doctor Who probably knows more about what you’re going through then he does. I hope I speak for my team, we are all as tired as you are not getting the care you want, and may need. Quinn, I’ve always said this is. Unsolicited advice. But if I were you. ,tell him that you’d like to get a second opinion at your next appointment. If he doesn’t give you one, then he’s more of an asshole than a doctor. Please take care of your needs. If you’re not getting what you need, find something or someone else you can get it from. You don’t need to have these extra negative mental feelings, on top of your physical ones . I hope you read this knowing that none of us want any of us to go through what you have been going through. If you’ve got bad doctors change them. This is your life man. You have the opportunities to make things better for yourself. Please do. 🤗
