Some medical assistant from the doctors office called me to schedule an appointment for an EEG. I was told over the phone to stay up until 2:00AM. I never had to do that before. Most of the time it has been for me to stay up until Midnight. After having it done, the EEG Technician told me that it was false about staying up until 2:00AM.
I was told don’t get any more than four hours of sleep before my video EEG. Staid one night and had two seizures and was told I could go home the next day.
Being an EEG Tech or Neurodiagnostic Tech. , that sounds great! ! I have sz. When I least expect it! I hug people and walk away! I have drop seizures and get right up! My sleep study showed a lot most of the time my wake EEG showed all my Abn! It’s varied from patient to patient!
Yes, I was told to do this by an adult neurologist and adult epileptologist. To stay up all night until your test. They do this to trigger a seizure. For me at the time, thankfully came out normal. Probably because, I was use to it though staying up late. Sometimes during my last years of college I had done all nighters for a few days when it came to projects and tests (I wouldn't recommend doing this at all!). I wasn't bothered seizure wise (that I am aware of) but, I did experience a full burn out in the end. Part of it would have been less stressful if those your partnered with did their part in a project, instead of not doing anything at all. On top, of one year being snapped at from my professor over email. I was only being honest, in why I wasn't there for class and I get "Thank you! I didn't expect that from you. Do not let it happen again!".
Like I could control my alarm from, my mind. It was an online class during covid, I am normally always early and prepared and one time I slip and be honest I get snapped at. After that I wasn't late but, instead just stood up the rest of the day until class. Caffeine helped a lot but, not later on when I crashed. It could be from my body being used to it or just a blessing.
Yes! Being a technician I have asked a patient to go to sleep late!
My EEG I came about 10 am, checked in. Got up to my room, changed. EEG tech came and glued the electrodes after shaving my head. I just remember watching TV and the super bowl was on. I felt tired once my meds wore off in the evening. Nurse came in with the flashlight and flashed it on me. Early in the morning, next day I had a seizure. Went and did an MRI. Spent another day on the unit. Just glad when they removed the electrodes and everything else I was hooked up to. Able to shower, wash my hair and change clothes.
