I've just had my appointment with my epilepsy nurse and she is increasing my Vimpat and also prescribing me clobazam to take if I feel a seizure coming on. When I take the clobazam will it make me feel really funny and sedated and how long does it take for the clobazam to wear off? I just get so nervous taking new medications. I don't want to feel all funny and stuff. I just get so nervous, I hate how anxious I get about these things.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member oh phew. My mind just spins out of control and goes to worst case scenario straight away. Medication just makes me really anxious.

You will not feel funny at all, if you normally feel anxiety, you may NOT feel anxious. That is what Clobazam does. You do not want it to wear off.

I take only when (and if) I feel a seizure coming on. It does make a bit of a zombie for at least a day but it’s better than a seizure if you ask me.

Yes it can do Lydia it really depends on how much you have to take
It's best to take for 3 days when you do because it will be more effective and reduce the severity of your seizures
Having seizures especially tonic clonic and cluster seizures will make you feel like a zombie anyway
They are like an emergency medicine so hopefully like you said you won't have to take them too often

Yes , Ativan does stop a seizure. Most of the time. But if I have an infection it won’t. I tend to get a lot of infections. Hope you find something that works for you. Like you mentioned in your previous post I don’t want to be a zombie. I inherited my immune system from my mother which was not very good. She was always sick so I am trying to boost my immune system hopefully that will work.
