Many community members responded to the question about Clobazam causing excessive sleep, confirming that increased tiredness and disrupted sleep patterns are very common with this medication. Several members shared personal experiences including needing long naps, sleeping 9 or more hours, and dealing with dizziness or other side effects that led them to switch medications like Keppra or Vimpat. A recurring theme was the importance of communicating openly with your neurologist about side effects and becoming your own advocate when managing epilepsy treatment.

Thanks for all of the replies. I was made aware that it could affect my sleepiness, I just didn't think that it would be so pronounced. After looking it up myself, I found out that she wasn't kidding about it being a powerful drug: it is classified as Tier 4.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member - I take Clobazam 10mg @ night. On it, my body wants 9 hours of sleep. If I don't get the 9 hrs, I get VERY sleepy in the late afternoon and crash for an hour or more. A nap will make me stay up super late (3 - 5am) which is horrible.

Usually a medication like Clobazam will make you tired. All AED's will. I was on it for a little while and it made me so dizzy I had to get off it.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member Are you on it long term? Or were you only given it short term after a seizure? Because they can use this as a rescue med short term but sometimes they do use it as a long term med.
