I'm wondering about this, before I knew I had a spot and was set up for and followed through with it, about a 45 min to about a hr reg session with doc or the medical system etc , depending on what is being done for you or me, but anyway I think and recently just thought, I think it's looking like it may be more of phone appointments instead of going in, except for maybe blood work and such etc, but if it goes that way, per se, I'm thinking it's more convenient if it does and would be ok with… read more

I would like my doctor appointment in person, but for just a check in I am fine with a video chat.

I used to go to Edmonton every year for my dr appt; but then Covid came so we did teleconference calls and I only had to go in every 3 yrs instead which worked out perfectly for me as I no longer had to find a dog/ house sitter for up to a month ( 3 weeks in hospital and time to get there and back plus time to wind down so I didn’t have a seizure on the plane). But last 2 years we’ve been doing it all by phone and that too works even better for me- I don’t even have to get out of bed if I don’t want to lol. And I’m perfectly fine with it. I don’t want to go through all the extra hassle and stress just getting everything ready on my end. So unless something changes again and I start having more—or hopefully less seizures; then I’ll be fine going back to Edmonton. Why bother with all the hassle, stress and everything else that has to be done just to get there if it can be done safely by phone? I’m happy to do it by phone or teleconference and go if I need to. Cheaper, easier and less stressful

It does seem like telehealth appointments are becoming more common, even for regular check-ins and medication management. This can provide more convenience and accessibility for many patients. As long as you are still able to get needed lab work or other in-person care when necessary, phone or video visits may work well for appointments that mainly involve discussing symptoms, making treatment adjustments, etc. Whether this trend continues likely depends on factors like insurance coverage and individual provider preferences. But telehealth definitely opens up possibilities for care, especially for those who live far from specialists or have mobility challenges. As with any care option, the most important thing is that you have access to the care and information you need to manage your health.
