A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Seattle, WA

Several times, recently, I have woken up near or in a climax. More recently while going to sleep I have a feeling of arousal that is not pleasant at all, and at the same time my right hip, then shoulder, then neck, then Left hip spasm inward, repeatedly while neck turns up and Right. Grunting. Horrible feeling. Needed rescue med. Husband is concerned. Anybody familiar? Help?

The best solution is to talk to your doctor or Neurologist and find out what is happening and how to stop it..

I have no idea at all. Consult your Doctors, maybe multiple ones. the Neurologist or Epileptologist might know mow about the movements of your body.

It sounds like the seizure activity area(s) of your brain 🧠 , are triggers different movements and sensory ,feelings of your body.

There are those of us who may experience vocalizing, body tremors, shakes , land spasms during the seizure(s) .

Then there are the after effects from the seizures. Thing like change of emotions, trouble speaking , confusion, may not be able to motivate the body right away and some other things

Andrea, please, nothing to be embarrassed about! (I don’t know, it might have happened to me last year!) But everyone’s right in that it depends upon the area of the brain the seizure originates from. And, in terms of worrying about what the doctor will think, remember, you’re employing them not the other way around, so they are bound by the Hippocratic Oath to tell you the honest truth about treatment! I wish you all the best, and don’t let fear/ pride take advantage of you!
