Members expressed gratitude and support for one another during a hurricane threat, with many sharing prayers and well wishes for those in affected areas. Several members provided updates after the storm passed, describing experiences ranging from minor wind and rain to power outages lasting up to 36 hours, with some noting the devastating impact in mountain communities like Chimney Rock that were completely destroyed. A recurring theme was community solidarity through checking on one another, sharing evacuation plans for the next approaching storm, and offering prayers and emotional support during an active and exhausting hurricane season.

We only lost our power for two hours. We lost our internet and phone service for four days. I miss being with all of you.

Thank you. I'm very independent and make sure I remain safe wherever I go. I'm always on the look out due to the life we had in Africa. Here in Northern Ireland I feel much better and safer.

We lost our power for 36 hours, but didn't get the horrible storms, wind and rain like Western North Carolina.
