I think this is a good site for information and treatment and advice etc, be It from the medical field and such etc, but I do what I'm asking here In the question here now and then, cause we may have our own experience with our conditions and seizures, but what it's like to be the other person that you're helping out and trying to imagine being in their shoes per say. What are your thoughts here to this? Just curious
I’m thinking I would be ok. I tend to forget about what would happen to me and just try and help others.
I have tried but have given up. I was pretty much a free-range child and when I started having seizures my parents were pretty much dismissive of the seizures. So not having my closest family care that much I have never really considered how others may feel about it. Now, my husband on the other hand, over worries and I feel very stifled by his concern.
I've never really thought about it. I used to wonder how my friends reacted, but I am often cognizant of my environment except during absence seizures.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member yes the isn't the same as 100 yrs ago, but 15 yrs ago when I spoke of epilepsy at a UW shindig, the head of HR @ Nestle-Purina, although happy I spoke on it, asked me why, as it's so taboo. So even 15 yrs ago & since then, it's still an issue for some.
If you know my story, you know I've had multiple pitty parties, but they all end when God presents me with people who are dealing w/ things that put me to shame, cause me to wonder why I'm complaining, & reevaluate my priorities / perspectives in life & thank God for my many blessings & forgive me for complaining as others have it so mucj worse
I believe everybody wonders what it would be like living a different way of life, both good and bad. I know I do, since a lot of volunteer work helping many people with many different problems. Such as 1 patient I helped who had severe case of MS needing help at a nursing home. Even tho she needed help with everything, including being understood, she seemed to always have a smile 😃 on her face. That I know helped me. Seeing her a life unable to do anything on her own but still be happy all the time. At that time I wondered how I'd be acting if I had a condition that bad. Made me realize Ì run my life my condition can interfere but not run it!!!
I have had episodes with medications that did not work for me and they were very bad. I can imagine how they feel without any medications.
But now I am seizure free since October 2023.
