I take Fycompa. I wish I had been willing to take it earlier. I’ve had seizures for 25 years and it’s the only one that has truly made a difference. When my doctor first suggested it I looked at the side effects and it said “random falling”. I was like I don’t need a medication to randomly fall. 3 years later he I agreed to go on it after talking to someone who had side effects but loved it. My doctor prescribed it so I only take it before bed. So I only feel side effects if I have to get up and go to the bathroom.
I am on Fycompa. I have been taking it for years. It has been a good drug for me. I also take Lamictal and Topamax. I take 8 mg of Fycompa at night. My neurologist added Fycompa to my medication regimen after I was evaluated at Cleveland Clinic. I had a TBI when I was 11 years old, and I was diagnosed with post-traumatic epilepsy when I was 17. The main side effects I notice are dizziness and issues with balance. This happens about an hour to an hour and a half after I take it. Eating a little something when you take it will help to alleviate these side effects. Other than that, I don't really have any negative comments. It is not available in generic yet, and it is expensive. Good luck in your research!
I’m on Fycompa. I’m on the highest dose of the medication , that’s safe for me.
