I keep the epilepsy to myself as much as I can and take as little time off as I can. If I knew I was busy, I went in but knew they may send me home if I have a seizure.
It still kept me low on available sick leave. When I had my temporal lobectomy, I was about 200 hours in the red but since I took less time off after surgery, that disappeared quickly.

I had only one situation I didn't wanna see happen but it did and I eventually got over it. My boss told me if she could demote me, she would because I had troubles remembering the work I just learned right before surgery. Later, I have another talk with the boss and I'm on the defensive and she tells me to stop being hard on myself. πŸ˜• I later saw the letter she got from my epileptologist and it said I would come back to work with no problems. I had problems but it was a short time before things were back to normal.

What helped me to continue was forgetting my boss's first comment and thinking about her second. πŸ˜‰

I'm still working on my career because I made some bad decisions. I had the chance to do carpentry, but I was "persuaded" to get out of the class for safety concerns. I probably wouldn't be a carpenter anyway because I need a car to carry tools in, & I can't drive. Nowadays I don't want to drive. My mom has gone her whole life without driving & so can I. So, now I'm starting all over again, this time with the right decisions & the medicines are still working, so that's good. My dreams of being an actor and traveling help me to continue.

Something was said to me until I had a grand mal at work. It never came up again! I eventually had to go on disability.

I have applied for SSDI and have been rejected multiple time. I am at the Federal level. There is only one more level above the Federal level. If I am rejected at the Federal level, I am thinking of trying to find a parttime work from home position. I really need the money.
