My Urogynecologist tested me years ago, because I got up 13 times a night. I hardly went at all. That meant I had poor and not enough sleep each night. She put water in the Bladder, and it held very little. I am now on medication so get up and really go maybe 4 times a night. She, my Neurologist and GP agreed doing that was good. Needing to urinate is a form of stress, and that is one of my triggers. The medication contributes to my Dry Mouth and Dry Eye. I use OTC products such as eye drops to help.

I had an apparatus put in and my urinary incontinence and bowel incontinence lessened a lot! My Urologist suggested it! Seizures not so bad and w/o sz a lot better!

I'm 72 and have been incontinent for about 80% - 90% of the time when I have a seizure. Worst and most embarrassing time for me was when I was in primary school or in years 1-5.
I'm still incontinent mostly when I have seizures in my sleep. Last time was about 5 months ago that I wet the bed and had to give it a good clean and dry asap.
I've also noticed that as I've gotten older, I can't hold as much anymore and so have to go to the toilet more often, so that's frustrating.
I also keep a bottle (with a screw on lid), beside the bed at night time so that I don't have to rushing to the toilet. There is also a solid plastic mat beside the bed just in-case. I go between 3 - 4 times a night.
Being incontinent seems to be part of life for a lot of us with epilepsy.
There are lots of other conditions like Parkinson's Disease, stroke, other brain damage, spinal cord damage and people who have dementia. My wife is in her menopausal years and she has problems in that area now. If you are over weight that doesn't help, with that extra weight bearing down into the pelvic region putting extra pressure on the bladder.
So we are not alone plus as someone else said, age also comes into it. I even have to hurry to the toilet these days.
