Fear And Focal Aware Seizures
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

During seizures I usually have stroke like symptoms, and every time I get a seizure i feel like im having a stroke. I know that it is a seizure but I can’t stop the fear of having a stroke from coming even though I logically know I’m not having one. Has anyone experienced something like this? I can’t stop the thoughts of stroke from happening

Hannabanana, are you having a stroke? Or is there something else involved? When i had my Seziure i was told that i was screaming while they were trying to cath me. I don’t remember being hurt at all or even if that happened.😭☹️🙁😕it’s very upsetting. Take care of yourself

I walked away not aware once from a neurology ward. They tried to stop me. Not a great idea. Their security decided to just let me go and they even got me a cab to take me to wherever I was going. When I woke I was in a different city with a nurse. Telling me I was having a seizure. I did get home but took me a while. And my adopted Dad asking where I thought I was going. I just looked at him. Going good question.

I’ve always had fear involved, both before and during my focal aware seizures, and often the fear lasts after it’s over. I can still remember and feel that fear now, even though I’ve not had a focal seizure in a long time. Mine involved a fear of falling or of being trapped. But sometimes the feeling varied with the particular aura. I think it has something to do with where in the temporal lobe the seizure starts.

Hope that helps you…
