Has Anyone Had Vision Problems While On Lamictal?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

After weaning off Fycompa and going to Lamictal 150mg morning and night I have had muscle jerks. After increasing dosage to 200mg morning and night I still have muscle jerks but I am having an issue with left eye impairment. My left eye it seems is having issues focusing. My right had no issue and feels focused, it is hard to explain. Has anyone else had this issue?

AshleyCapps, I have been on a high dose of Lamictal for about 20, I currently take 300 AM/PM, and yes I have the vision problems, and I’ve had the tremor/neuropathy for some years, getting more intense over time. But simply having this disease can result in the tremor or shaking, unrelated to a seizure event. At least this is what my Dr said when I asked him about it. The dosage of Lamictal I take has helped control my seizures, so until it stops working, I guess I’ll put up with the side effects, if that’s what they are.

My daughter had the same issue. She had just moved up a dosage step. She said it give it a week to adjust. And sure enough it went away for her. But everyone is different

I’ve taken lamictal my whole life. I’ve never had jerks while taking it but double vision, feeling tired, sickness, and objects going all over the place is definitely an affect it had on me when they started putting me on too much. (300-400 morning and night). It was so annoying and not something I could handle. So I just took the risk of lowering my dose to 100 MG morning and night without telling my doctor because I’d rather have a seizure than all of the sickness and double vision I was getting. Lucky for me when I went down to 100 MG it didn’t affect the amount of seizures I have at all. They’re still very minimal.
