Occipital Lobe Epilepsy
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I already had temporal lobe epilepsy, but after some changes in seizures and an EEG i now also have occipital lobe epilepsy. Anyone have this? Any advice or information such as triggers would be helpful thank you

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member they’re starting in the occipital lobe. Before my EEG i knew something was different because my seizures were so different and im having severe muscle spasms which were never a problem before. Def didn’t expect that diagnosis though

Hey Emily, Has the Doc talked about the manifestation of a new seizure? For instance, the seizure starts in this area and stays in this area?
Or does the seizure start where your other seizure originate and spread to the occipital lobe?
I ask because after my surgery I was having completely different seizures. Normally my seizures were had auditory that I would feel through my body but I was having seizures that I wouldn't feel and I would have a scent hallucination. The seizures were starting in the same place but traveling to a whole new place in the brain. That has stopped now but it's something that can happen.
Just curious if you have discussed this with your doctor.

I have a little Occipital lobe seizures. Its hard tell if I’m having a seizure or if Im experiencing side effects from my meds.

It maybe possible of trying the VNS,RNS,and DBS to try and reduce the seizures. It’s definitely too dangerous to have another brain surgery. You’re risking eye damage or even blindness.
