i have 4 types ... auras, simple partials (focal onset aware), complex partials (focal onset impaired awareness), and generalized grand mals (tonic clonic) seizures. so ya... you can have both.

Paul, I have been diagnosed as having: "Generalized and Focal Epilepsy". Just as the name suggests, this is a type of epilepsy where people have both generalized seizures and focal seizures. I myself experience Absence seizures (petit mal seizures), Simple Focal seizures (twitching and strange taste or smell) and Complex Focal seizures (being dazed or confused, each randomly on a regular basis.

Its been things I never thought was epilepsy like everything thing u said I had a grand mal back in 2014 then night time seizure after waking up with my cheek and tongue being bitten so the focal side never heard of so never told my norol
