I was prescribed Phenobarbtione for a year in my childhood and it worked well. No treatment required again until seizures began again in adulthood. Have tried every combination of meds without success. Has anyone been prescribed phenobarbitone in later life with success?

We all need to be careful of new medications & its alright to say "NO" aswell like l did earlier this year!

I was put on new medication and slowly coming down on & off my Epilim, l was fine the first 2wks then all of a sudden it went to shit!

I changed completely, l felt down, depressed, was exhausted everyday, was sleeping in the arvos, headaches

l went in2 work one day & had a panic attack l clocked in & was at my briefing & l just stood there & couldnt speak.. one of my colleagues asked me if l was alright but l just stared at the floor.. l was brought into the bk & my manager sat me down & asked of l was ok l couldnt speak eventually l got a few words out & l stayed my shift as l was too worried about going home as l wasnt right mentally at that time & l knew it.

I talked to work the nxt day & l took 2wks off they were very supportive as always & l went to my bestfriends for the 1st wk as she didnt want me to be alone

Anyways l eventually found out with my pharmacist that the medication obviously wasnt right & l came off it & god l came back to my normal self again.

My specialist rang & wanted to have me start on another medication & ya know what l said HELL NO!! do you know what ive just been through?? Mentally & physically thats the worst I've ever been & l wont go bk to doing that thanx! They dont even seem to care its just we must try another cause drugs its the only answer, my pharmacist was more worried about me when l had gone in for more of the new drugs & l burst into tears when she asked me 'how l was doing' she said hold on a minute this isnt right!

Im now bk to being on my epilim & phenytoin everyday & even though l still have my seizures l am mentally happy and healthy & bk to being my normal self & l love life even more now! Medications are diff for every1 & are not always good & l wont let a doctor or a specialist tell me l need something when im actually fine to begin with!

The phenobarbital made my gums puffy. After years of taking them they cover half of my teeth. I took phenobarbital for about 10 years.
