How Can I Get A Service Dog? Is It Better To Get A Puppy And Train It To Become A Service Dog Better, Or Better To Go Threw A Service?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I live in Canada Calgary and I am trying really hard to get a service dog. I heard I can get a puppy and train the puppy to become a service dog myself but it cost alot of money or go threw a service and get a service dog fully trained and everything but it's a long wait just doesn't cost money but it's a really long and hard process. Any advice or recommendations? That would be fantastic. Thank you so much, Pixy.

Thank you so much for useful answers.
I would be looking for a seizure response dog, as for possible pill feching and staying by my side while I am having my blank out seizures or even during my grand mals possible helping me with my falls and during them.
I just need professional training for the dog and any recommendations would be really helpful and saving me. I have looked threw some just not certified as for service dog and to receive the card.

Her name is Cinderella, because she's a princess.

Depends on what you expect the dog to do.
If you want to take it out in public to "assist" you when you both are awake, I suggest you have it professionally trained, or obtain it from a reliable source such as Canine Partners For Life.
There's way to raise money. Crowd funding, lemonade stands, special pass the plate offering at church, charity event in your name with reason- suggest to radio/ TV, news media. Service clubs.
