Klonopin
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I’m sooooo sleepy and in a brain fog since taking Klonopin in addition to my Lamictal and Trileptal.
How long does it take for these side effects to go away. I feel like I’m walking through jello.

I was taking it only for sleep over a decade ago. It seemed to stop working for sleep for me after a time. Due to being a CPAP, which I stopped using when my diagnosis changed from Sleep Apnea to Nocturnal Epilepsy because I no longer needed that, I was not sure if the Clonazepam was safe for me. Other than that, my own concern about using it with a CPAP machine, I had no side effects. I was not addicted because I merely stopped. I would try it again if I needed a back up medication as I am starting Keppra. Though I had only trialed Carbamazepine and discontinued after I had to go the ER for leg drops, not being able to stand back up due to what I now understand is a Negative Myoclonic seizure; and, I had trialed Depakote back in 2011 for Migraines but it caused me severe dystonic seizures in the night. I woke watching what I now know as a Jacksonian March but with the added feature of my neck spasm turning into a dystonic spasm while the pain awakened me from sleep to watch all my muscle spasms marching up from my feet to my neck. So, yeah, I would use Clonazepam again if that was the only next option in case Keppra does not work for me.
