My last option is brain surgery but the thought of it terrifies me..has anyone had this that can tell me your outcome..did it work? What if any were your side affects after.

I had my brain surgery back in 1998. Before the surgery, I had severe seizures . After the surgery my seizures reduced to mild and moderate seizures. I may not be seizure free but overall, the surgery was worth it.

i have partials and grand mal (focal onset impaired awareness to tonic clonic) seizures. in 2001 i had a hemispherectomy (left side was disconnected and part of the left was removed). i went from bad seizures to grand mals a lot of times a day to 1-2 auras everyday or every other day. i still take meds to control the seizures but the side effects of the surgery are bad. my right body is less than the left. my right hand and part of my arm is limp. i where a brace to walk far distances. i cant write good (than god for the voice recorder and auto correct). and i cant remember more than a couple things at one time. i every couple of years i need a 'tune up' (therapy).
that is a long time ago and i didnt know all of the ideas out there and the advancements after my surgery. my advise is surgery is always the last resort. do your own research. i am a health nut and took/taking alternative meds, hippie remedies, meditation or yoga, and diets. i tried a lot and it does help (if you believe in it).

Surgery worked for me. 11 and a 1/2 years seizure free. Some side affects like memory difficulties but you come up with strategies to compensate.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member the keto diet and the atkins diet. i had a strict keto diet for 10+ years and it reduced my seizures a lot. if that didnt work i went with the mad (modified atkins diet). to this day i switch from the loosely base keto to the mad.
