Is A High Fat, Protein, Carb, Dairy And Sugar Diet Bad For Epileptics?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have a high metabolism and intense seizures. Downside I live off basically fat, proteins, carbs, sugars and dairy this is due to the caloric intake seems to be what my body needs. I haven't gained weight since high school. I don't seem to gain anything even though what I eat is basically I eat all the stuff people shouldn't and never gain. I also have a high metabolism that probably is needed to ensure this but am I eating what my body truly needs? In fairness I do eat fruits and veggies but… read more

i have the keto diet. a high fat low carb diet. no potatoes of any kind, little to no sugar, no gluten, and little to no process foods. i mostly eat meat, fruits and veggies, and good oil. for example butter spray is bad but stick of butter is good. veggie oil is bad but coconut oil or flax seed oil is good.

Keto is high protein, low carb. You don’t have to count calories just make the right food choices. It’s extremely easy to choose meat, fish, nuts, seeds, eggs, even mayo!. Add veggies, not much fruit or dairy. Leave out the rice, breads, baked goods, white potatoes and sodas and your good to go. So easy! And you can eat this stuff any time of day, all day.

if it's not broke don't fix it. seems like what you are doing is working. you talk about eating all the things we shouldn't. i heard of a woman who smoked for 80 years; quit smoking and died a week later. sounds like your body needs all this "bad" stuff. it's working for you keep doing it.

Plenty of Protein (nuts, seeds, chicken, fish, protein bars) and very low carb is what I do. No artificial sweeteners, sport drinks, sodas. I love my coffee, but can’t do high caffeine anything. Hey, something I also avoid is citrus fruit. Known to interfere with med levels, including antibiotics. Just saying.
