Keppra
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

What is the best medicine to use as a substitute of Keppra when a woman wants to get pregnant and she is 11 years seizures free and on Keppra 500mg twice a day?

^ listen to Margery. I lost my boy 13 years ago today full term on sodium valproate, Dilantin and carbamazepine.
Keppra is a leader in safe anti epileptic drugs for pregnancy. I've been waiting for studies on vimpat before I try again.

I have no idea. If no seizures for 11yrs could they wean you off medications or give a lower dose

The best thing is ask your neurologist. I'm on Keppra 500mg three times a day & each time taking two pills. For me they said if I wanted to get pregnant it wasn't the Keppra I had to worry about getting off of but I'm also allergic to all medication there is & only have one left to try if needed.
