What Does Everyone Mean By What Triggers You?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

What does everyone mean by what " triggers" you this may be a dumb question but can Episodes/ fits be triggered by things other then like getting scared or stuff like that ?
I feel like when people are talking to me about random things I sometimes get this feeling like a random word almost sets something off?

I read through the answers and I think what you're looking for is something like this.
A trigger is something that you hear/smell/do / eat/ etc that sets of a seizure in response.

There are a number of different things that trigger seizures: not getting enough sleep-at times of fevers and other illnesses, flashing bright lights, alcohol or drug use, stress, not eating well-low blood sugar, specific foods, to much caffeine, & use of other medications. Not all of these apply to everybody.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member My triggers are anxiety, stress, being sick, and getting too hot. I have to try to live as laid back as possible because anxiety and stress are big ones for me.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member, you have a solid point in different individuals have different triggers. Stresses in many ways from emotional fights to financial worries can trigger seizures Each individual's own mind, body, and spirit determines the actual trigger.
Smells and visions, which aren't truly existing are auras for me, as well. Plus, pushing the body too far, physically, can trigger seizures in my sleep. It could be through dreams, but I seldom remember any dreams, during my sleep. I certainly do not know what triggered all my seizures. Yet switching medications has been blamed as well.
