MIGRAINE
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

Does anyone else experience migraines along with trying to deal with epilepsy. I get about 2 a month and they last a good 4 days. Pain relievers only take the edge off. My neurologist said you're twice as likely to develop migraines with epilepsy. I'm looking for suggestions on how people deal with the migraine.

I get headaches nearly every day and take Amitryptiline every night as preventative for migraines. I have migraines after every seizure and I find Codeine and Ibruprofen help and a dark quiet room with cold flannel or ice pack. Hope that helps.

I use to have migraines a lot and feel for you all who do. When I did, mine would last up to 3 days and taking something even my seizure meds. were difficult for me to do. I would be nauseated and get sick, would have to keep it very dark and quiet. Keeping an ice pack was the only thing that would help somewhat. But I was so thankful when that time was over. I still get head aches from time to time, not as severe. My thoughts and feelings are w/ you all dealing w/ those.

I was hospitalized a week ago. I had flurry seizures. I couldn't see out my eyes because they were sensitive to light, and I wanted to throw up. I too, have terrific headaches but I thought I was going to die! I had these when I first had seizures. I take meds. For migraines but this medication didn't work.

I have a constant headache which I now call my "normal headache". Then there's the "post seizure headaches" which are way worse.

Yes I get them all the time . I use essential oils . it helps so much . I had a doctor that just threw meds at me because of my Epilepsy and I was sick of it . So I started using oils . I have seen a 160 change . I still take my needed meds though . the best brand to go with is Now essential oils or young living . the Lavender and Spearmint help my migraines . you just put I tiny bit on your temples or were the pain is and relieves it . just do your research on the oils first . some oils can cause seizures . also you can use a diffuser for your oils . My seizures are caused by stress or worry amongst other things so I use an app called calm to help relax and use my oils . I hope this helps ❀
