I took lamictal giving good control but made me feel toxic.Looking,acting and feeling very drunk.
Together we decided on a try of a little lower dose on sz and toxicity.Toxicity was only slightly de-
creased with no
sz problem. Next a change in how to take med was tried and made things livable. In my case I decreased the amt taken at one time smaller and more often during the day.HS dose was left the same
keeping bld levels good and drunken
ness during the night sleep.

I would never lower my own meds leave that up to doctors. You don't know how much to decrease meds or how low your levels are dropping and that could be dangerous.

@Tammylevin
I had my Keppra levels checked when I was in the hospital for continuous EEG monitoring for 5 days.
My epileptologist told me recently that my levels were really high. Unfortionately, he isn't willing to drop the dose down at all because my seizures aren't being controlled yet. He can't raise the dose, but is afraid to lower it! It's the same dose I've been on for the past 10 months. The doc is trying to find a second medicine I can tolerate at this time...nothing seems to be tolerated or is working.
You said YOU wanted to lower the dose of your medicine, but are worried about having seizures. What does your doctor think? NEVER lower or raise medicine dose on your own! It's not safe or wise!
I hope you have a good day.

This is the feeling I am presently experiencing with Trileptal. I just started it a little over a week ago and I look and feel drunk! Constantly spinning, unsteady,mcrashing into walls and my depth perception is WAY off! I've got bruises and even a nice cut from the corner of my counter top in the kitchen. I'm on 300mg twice a day and I'm not getting used to it yet. I can't even ride in a car with someone because it just makes it worse. I take it after eating in the morning, and I can feel it kick in about an hour and a half or less making me need an instant nap and the dizziness gets SO much worse. It lasts all day and may get slightly better RIGHT before I need to take it again at night. As they say, lather, rinse, and repeat...SO sick and tired of feeling sick and tired!
