I am trying to explain to someone I know about absence seizures but they just don't understand. Would you share what you personally experience when they happen. For me, when they occur my eyes become frozen in place and i am unable to talk to respond to someone if they are talking to me but i can hear them. I also sometimes get a feeling of being in a daze after having multiple episode back to back.
I have Complex Partial Seizures and most of my seizures are similar to the absence sezures you mentioned.
It is like I have a time when my normal activity goes blank (somilar to spacing out). My eyes like go blank, I loose what I'm doing, I might turn my head to the right and cough, and loose my balance. If someone comes up to me and try to communicate, I give them a blank look and don't know what I'm doing. I can sometimes talk but when I do I don't make any sense. Most of the time if I can be sat or lied down I will come out of it mostly in about 10 minutes. If my wife is around she notices right away what is happen in and takes care of me. I tell all my friends about this too incase I have seizure and how to help. The main thing is to make sure they can watch you so you don't hurt yourselk. I hope this helps
It looks like I’m Staring off into space. Another I hear , is that my eyes 👀 go into a blank stare. I may vocalize and make noises. I’ve even been told that I would toss a pop bottle up and catch it during the spell.
Absence seizures is like you are a zombie.
I know this post is old, but i found it and maybe others will find and read this too. I ask people “have you ever been reading a book late at night and found you skimmed the page but actually werent reading it at all? Or youve lost your keys and you KNOW you had them when you came home but cant work out what happened after? .. to me its like that. I was physically there, but somewhere along the line i stopped recording and i dont know what happened, and it can even happen mid conversation. ” although not entirely detailed or accurate enough, its relatable enough for those without epilepsy.
Absence seizures are also AKA peti mal seizures. They are very mild . When I would have one I ou LD that I had a blank stare in my eyes, or I was looking thru someone.
