A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
North Riverside, IL

My neuro has requested a 48 hour ambulatory EEG during the first two days of my next period as this is when I have my primary seizure activity. I have not had an ambulatory in nearly 20 years. Will they wrap my head in any way? Is there anything to expect? Can I expect to be able to work?

Thanks all

I've only had the 24hrs done and that was enough for me. Getting glue out afterwards is what @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member said as worked for me.

The best trick I found to get it out is to soak your head with conditioner for about five minutes, comb it through and then wash and condition as normal. The 48 hour EEGs aren't as tough to get out as the 5-day EEGs. Also, I wouldn't work if I were you. The computers will create "artifacts", you will have logs to fill out and you will likely feel less than 100% with this thing on your head. Yes, they do wrap it. Most places give you a pretty bandana (sarcasm), but you can bring your own if you have one.

The Tech didn't get it all out, blah! I don't know how many times I took a shower to get it ALL out... hahaha
