Does anyone have really bad low self esteem? I don't know if this is just a general thing or a thing caused by epilepsy.

My self esteem has plummeted since the onset of my seizures. Who gets epilepsy in their 50's? This lady. The meds have affected my memory and word finding. I've been isolative and out of work, but I'm making plans to try and get out more. I hope that will help.

I'm not sure if I would call my problem low self esteem, it's more lack of confidence, shyness and not being very outgoing. But now that I've been looking into my epilepsy more closely, some of this could have something to do with where my seizures come from. My seizures originate from the area in my brain that controls the fear response which could have had an affect on my social life growing up. I'm just starting to learn about my epilepsy and haven't heard any similar cases so I don't know if I believe it all...who knows it might just be the doctors trying to convince me to go through with my surgery. But it's always been part of my personality, and I'm more social now that I'm learning more and am more open to people about the seizures. There's more people with seizures than most people realize so it's nothing to be embarrassed of, we can live long and productive lives just like everyone else.
