My daughter asked me this question as her sister with epilepsy has several deja vus a week. Why do people who don't have epilepsy have them or are they having a seizure without being diagnosed? What's the normal amount of deja vu a person has? I can't remember the last time I had one and my husband says almost never but my daughter has them
weekly and the others only experience maybe 4-5 times a year. M

I believe if your child needs to get checked out and the deja vu still happens to me at times where I feel light headed and dizzy at times if that's what you are experiencing talk to doctor and tell him/her about it ....get daughter checked our or talk too your doctor see what he/she may say.good luck

I wonder because I have had deja vu ever since I was a child. But just in 2012 was diagnosed with the seizure disorders.

Anyone can have dejavu. However it does depend how often someone is having them. I was having probably between 25-50 a day before I had my very first seizure snd diagnosis of epilepsy. I have complex partial and grandmal. The dejavu and smells and auras stem from our sensory area in the brain--frontal lobe area. If our seizures start in that same area-many times individuals will experience those symptoms.

That's an interesting question! I had febrile seizures when I was a baby but have not had anything since. However, I still have many instances of Déjà vu. My 4 year old has epilepsy and I have no idea if she experiences this as well. ..because she's 4 and that would be extremely difficult to explain to her lol.
We have a strong family history of epilepsy and it seems the ones that had seizures in our family as children seem more prone to feelings of Déjà vu than the siblings that did not.
